Recliner Care & Safety Guide
Understanding Your Recliner
Recliners are composed of a metal reclining mechanism base with moving parts that enable the reclining function. Throughout manufacturing, seats, arms, backs and upholstery are added individually to create the finished product.
These structures can be damaged when overloaded or used improperly. Moving parts—particularly reclining mechanisms—can be dangerous if used incorrectly.
For Your Family's Safety
- Always supervise children on and around reclining furniture
- Never allow children to operate the recliner or play on it
- Only the occupant should operate the recliner
- Always return the recliner to fully closed and upright when not in use
- Check underneath the mechanism before closing
- Keep hands, feet, and clear of mechanisms when closing
- Be mindful of children, pets, and loose items like clothing or blankets
Proper Everyday Use
- Always fully close footrests when entering or exiting
- Footrests are designed for one person's feet only
- Additional weight (pets, children) can damage mechanisms
- Sit in the middle of the cushion where structural support is strongest
- Avoid leaning over the sides of your seat
- Observe the 120kg weight limit for reclining mechanisms
Moving & Maintenance
- Always use at least 2 people to move reclining sofas
- Never drag recliners - lift carefully to avoid bending mechanisms
- New foams will settle over 1-2 months of regular use
- Regularly "fluff and pat" seat & back cushions to maintain shape
- Rotate seating positions to ensure even wear
